Claremont Restoration | East Sussex

We restored and reimagined this historic commercial property to bring it back into active use for the town. Works included careful façade repair and redecoration, refurbishment of the arched timber windows, and a new ground-floor shopfront. Internally, we created open-plan studios and workspaces with durable finishes, restored original floorboards, installed a new kitchen/breakout, and formed a glazed screen to the rear lightwell. At roof level we strengthened and expressed the existing structure with new timber/steel bracing and introduced full-height glazing/doors to improve light and connectivity. Building services were upgraded throughout (heating, lighting and small power) and compliance items addressed, including BM TRADA-certified fire-door installations, escape signage and general life-safety enhancements. The result preserves the building’s character while providing adaptable, modern space for creativity and community activity.
